BIAL Foundation Scientific Research Scholarships 2024/2025

With the aim of promoting research focused on the human being, both physically and spiritually, particularly in areas that remain underexplored but open to rigorous scientific analysis, the BIAL Foundation established a Scientific Research Scholarship system in 1994. Now in its 11th edition, the Foundation has opened a new program of Scholarships and Financial Support with the following details:

1. **Objective and Purpose of Scholarships** - This program will support only projects in the fields of Psychophysiology and Parapsychology. The specific goals for candidates will be determined by the Research Project submitted for application.

2. **Eligibility** - All scientific researchers, individually or as a group, are eligible to apply, except for BIAL Foundation employees and employees of any companies within the BIAL Group. Current scholarship holders of the Foundation may apply but can only receive new scholarships upon successful completion of their current supported projects.

3. **Duration and Start Date** - The total duration of Financial Support within the Program must not exceed three years, and projects must begin between January 1 and October 31, 2025.

4. **Scholarship Value and Disbursement** - Approved applications will receive Financial Support of up to €60,000. The exact amount will be determined solely by the BIAL Foundation based on the specific needs of each Research Project.

5. **Application Process** - Applications, written in English and following the Financial Support Regulations for BIAL Foundation Scientific Research Projects, must be submitted by August 31, 2024, through the BIAL Foundation Grants Management System (BF-GMS).

   Applications will not be accepted for:

   - Clinical or Experimental Models of Human Pathologies and Therapeutics.

   - Projects focused primarily on dietary behavior, sexual behavior, or physical exercise.

   - Fundamental neuroscience projects (cellular, molecular, biochemical mechanisms of brain function) that are not directly and clearly associated with a psychophysiological measure.

6. **Evaluation and Announcement of Results** - Applications will be evaluated by the BIAL Foundation Scientific Council. Decisions will be communicated to applicants within four months of the application deadline.
