You can apply for the KAAD 1 Scholarship Program if:

-Who currently resides in a developing or emerging country in Africa, Asia, the Middle East or Latin America.

-You have a university degree and professional experience in your home country.

-You would like to do a master's, a PhD or other postgraduate studies, or you are planning a post-doctorate or a research stay (2 to 6 months for academics) at a German university.

-Is of Catholic denomination (or usually belongs to a Christian denomination, especially for candidates from the Near and Middle East). Applicants of another religion may be funded if they are proposed by Catholic partners, with a view to a documented willingness to participate in interreligious dialogue.

-Have knowledge of German before entry (KAAD can offer a German course of a maximum of 6 months in Germany).
