UOR is a private higher education institution with the status of a private legal entity, endowed with statutory, scientific, pedagogical, cultural, administrative, financial, and disciplinary autonomy.
VALUES AND CULTURE
Diversity – social, cultural, economic, political, religious, ethnic – is the characteristic that distinguishes university education from other fields of teaching. It is within this diversity that the educational concept at Oscar Ribas University is based, not aiming to standardize differences, but instead viewing them as an inexhaustible source of equitable opportunities for all.
Born in a space with a future, Oscar Ribas University carries forward the values of democracy as a tool for building a society where civic participation is a fundamental aspect of full citizenship in a world where globalization has become a reality and not a choice. As part of this interconnected society, marked by the growing flow of information, the university prepares its students to be responsible and proactive citizens, with the attitude and capacity to offer services rather than merely receiving them. Citizens who embrace the values of democracy, justice, solidarity, and autonomy, and who fight for a self-sustaining life.
Oscar Ribas University bases its training on human values and remains deeply rooted in the culture, social, moral, and ethnic values that form the foundation of the Angolan Nation, always prioritizing differences that sustain opinions and the freedom of thought that drives development and change.
As an academic institution, Oscar Ribas University values rigor and discipline based on mutual respect, encouraging critical thinking, curiosity, and intellectual freedom in a collaborative environment always in pursuit of excellence in knowledge, new experiences, and shared learning. The university expects its members to act with honesty, integrity, professional and personal ethics, solidarity, and responsibility—elements it considers essential for all training fields and the sustainability of the legacy it passes on to future generations.
VISION
Oscar Ribas University aims to continue its efforts in a way that, embedded in today’s "global village," it remains a reference university, not only nationally but also as a privileged partner of international counterparts.
Based on diversity, which it sees as "the richness of humanity," the university will continue to promote dialogical and egalitarian relationships between institutions to ensure that citizenship and the sustainability of the educational process take into account globality, diversity, and uniqueness—principles considered essential for navigating this still-young millennium.
The university believes that it should contribute to the formation of the citizen-subject, where the individual and collective are thought of dialectically. The local scale needs to be compatible with the global scale, constantly seeking excellence in responding to the needs of human development.
Upon completing the first cycle of studies, Oscar Ribas University will strengthen and expand its field of education. Areas of training will have more choices, with new courses and the implementation of faculties, and master's, postgraduate, MBA, and doctoral programs will be introduced.
Partnerships with international universities will increasingly be realized because it is understood that the current world cannot develop nor conceive another model of development that does not function in a network. This implies incorporating global, collaborative, participatory values and strategies, creating learning environments and strategies that value the processes in global training environments where both students and professors, as human beings, think, feel, or decide, as an “I,” but understanding it as a whole. This process of human multidimensionality is only possible with the implementation of academic exchanges (already initiated) for students and faculty.
