The José Eduardo dos Santos University is a higher education institution that carries out its activities in the Huambo Province. Its VISION is to be an innovative university, a national reference, and to assert itself in the regional (SADC) and international contexts.

In 2020, with the reorganization of the Public Higher Education Network, published in Presidential Decree No. 285/20 of October 29, UJES became confined to the Huambo Province. According to Presidential Decree No. 286/21 of December 2, it now has 7 (seven) Organic Units, consisting of 6 (six) Faculties and 1 (one) Polytechnic Institute.

Supervisory body: Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation. Management bodies: Rector, assisted by two Vice-Rectors, and the Organic Units are managed by Deans and two Vice-Deans, one for Academic Affairs and the other for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies.

In the next 5 (five) years, UJES aims to focus its actions on quality management, directed toward the establishment, consolidation, and expansion of a contemporary higher education institution based on sustainability principles. It is structured around four key areas: Teaching, Research, Innovation, and Postgraduate Studies; University Extension; and Administrative Management. Thus, UJES aims to be an innovative university, a national reference, and to assert its place of merit in the regional (SADC) and international contexts.

The general objective of UJES is to train qualified technical staff in various fields of knowledge, equipped with scientific knowledge. To fulfill its mission, achieve its vision, and meet its proposed objectives based on its values, UJES's leadership team must continuously engage with the relevant authorities of the Government of Angola, public, private, and international institutions, in order to understand and respond to the demands of society.
