Created by Decree no. 7/09, of 12 May, of the Council of Ministers, which establishes and reorganizes the network of public higher education institutions, creates new higher education institutions (HEIs) and resizes the Agostinho Neto University (UAN), the 11 de Novembro University (UON) operates and expands in Academic Region III (Decree no. 5/09, of 7 April, of the Council of Ministers).

The University 11 de Novembro, named after the day of National Independence, which is the result of the evolution of the University Center of Cabinda of the UAN, created in 1996, foresees in its Institutional Development Plan (PDI) a structuring and expansion into four Teaching and Research Zones (ZEI):

Cabinda Teaching and Research Zone (predominantly Health Sciences);

Mbanza Kongo Teaching and Research Zone (predominantly Human Sciences);

Buco Zau Teaching and Research Zone (predominantly Agroforestry and Environmental Engineering);

Soyo Teaching and Research Zone (predominantly Industrial Engineering).

AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND SPECIALTIES

The areas of knowledge are: Educational science: biology, physics, mathematics, psychology, pedagogy, chemistry; language teaching, English language teaching. Economic science: macroeconomics; Management science: business management, accounting, finance, auditing; Legal-civil sciences. Health sciences: nursing, clinical psychology, medicine.

In the context of its development, the UON is organized into teaching and research chairs and departments (DEI) as mono-, pluri-, inter- or trans-disciplinary structures for the transmission, reproduction and production of scientific knowledge.
