The Sinodal Higher Polytechnic Institute of Angola (ISPSA) does not yet have a history, as it is in the process of creation and institutionalization. It is emerging as one of the most important institutions in the Southern Regional context of Angola, specifically in the provinces of Namibe and Huíla, corresponding to the 6th Academic Region. Its creation comes from the division of existing institutions that do not meet the educational demands of the Southern Region and the need for higher institutes offering technical and academic courses that the country requires, especially in an era recognized for technological advancements.

This school will certainly go through a transition period to enable, through planned actions, the adoption of a specific profile that, while respecting existing universities and institutes, can also take on a new shape justifying its emergence. Thus, the initial phase of this institution will be marked primarily by the struggle for its establishment, as the continuation of its teaching, research, and extension activities depends on the technical support and infrastructure that the Higher Administration must ensure to make its implementation feasible.

Once some of the more serious challenges of this initial phase are overcome, the school will have the conditions to collectively build its new identity, starting with the development of an Institutional Development Plan that reflects the institution's commitment to teaching, research, and extension activities, as well as to institutional management and evaluation, along with its socioeconomic role.

Although the Sinodal Higher Polytechnic Institute of Angola (ISPSA) has a new name and a differentiated academic and administrative structure, its foundations are firmly rooted in a solid base: its origins date back to a time when Private Higher Education was taking its first steps in our region. Although not implemented at that time due to various sociopolitical constraints beyond our control, the institution has never strayed from its vocation, which is supported by the principles of public and private responsibility and social commitment. Over the years, we aim to build a tradition of academic excellence in teaching, research, and extension that serves the advancement of scientific and technological progress, addresses social issues, and promotes human development.

With its establishment, the school will have a structure with five courses, namely: Social and Human Sciences Course, Sociology Option, Agronomy Course, Medicine Course, Business Economics and Management Course, and Law Course in the first phase.

Social inclusion and economic development of the region have always been prominent points in the projects and institutional actions, which are crucial for the recognition the institution aims to achieve on the national academic scene.

With the establishment of these five excellence courses, the goal is to qualify the specialized workforce to meet the demands of social life and service diversity, providing services in the areas of Health (Kaluquembe Hospital), Education, and Agriculture, while ensuring positive social, economic, political, and cultural changes in its reality. The institution is a reference for the development and progress of the state and the Southern Region of Angola.

In terms of planning, the school will be able to mature enough to discuss, develop, and implement new frameworks for allocating teaching positions and budgetary resources that begin to address injustices and distortions that have persisted, prioritizing variables such as enrollment expansion, the creation of evening courses, and off-site courses, among other parameters that will determine the recovery and preeminence of centers that invest more in democratizing access to higher education.

The Sinodal Higher Polytechnic Institute of Angola (ISPSA), a tribute to the development achieved by the Church itself in its 117 years of successful history as a higher education institution, is one of the last to be implemented. However, we want to emphasize our capacity for organization and collaboration with the state in social aspects.
